EUREKA!

Eureka! (yoo reeka) This word comes from the Greek, meaning “I have found it!” and is believed to be the exclamation first heard from Archimedes upon discovering a method for determining the purity of gold.

Wow! Ohhh! I see! Aha! No kidding! These are similar expressions we want to hear from our children as they discover the gems of truth awaiting them in God’s Word, which is “more precious than gold, than much pure gold (Psalm 19:10.)” And they are always written with exclamation marks! There is a deep and rich excitement which can come from the exploration of what our Creator God actually has to say to us!

This is what our EUREKA! Children’s Ministry is all about…a child discovering that Jesus really does love them; a fresh understanding that God wants a personal relationship with each one; or eyes being opened to the wonder that God speaks in His Word, which is “living and active!” We invite you to come and discover the gold with us…

OUR GOAL: In all we do, we want to see each child develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and grow in their Christian walk, enjoying God in Worship, Service, Fellowship, Learning, and Reaching out to others.

SUNDAY MORNINGS give us two opportunities to dive into the Bible. Classes are offered for all ages through fifth grade at 9:30 and 11:00am. We encourage all parents to attend an adult class of their own during one hour and enjoy worship as a family during the other. A gift copy of the excellent book, “Parenting in the Pew” is available to each family. Beginning with the nursery, our classes use Great Commission or Gospel Light curriculum. They are staffed by a team of capable volunteers who complete an application and undergo a background check in order to serve. By God’s grace, Granada continues to provide a safe and enriching program for our young ones.

WED. NITE KIDS’ TIME provides a mid-week boost filled with fresh-air fun on the playground, Bible, related games & crafts, music, and more. Our “Kids’ Quest” program is a fun focus on the children’s catechism (basic truths of our faith in a question/answer format.) At certain times of the year, part of the evening is spent preparing for an upcoming children’s musical that involves many of our children. Kids’ Time is 6:15-7:45pm for ages 3 years – 5th grade. A nursery is provided for those 2 years and under.

THE RACE!
“Let us run with endurance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on JESUS.” Heb. 12:1-2 Throughout their elementary years, the Granada children continue on a non-stop race to a fast food finish! They earn points by being involved in many ways and when they reach the goal of 10,000, it’s off to McD’s, BK, Taco Bell or Wendy’s!! Here is a sampling of what they enjoy doing (100 points each): coming to Sunday School or Wed. Nite Kids’ Time, helping on a work day, reciting the books of the Old or New Testaments, memorizing any complete Bible verse or catechism answer, bringing a friend who hasn’t come before, bringing items for our missions or mercy projects, taking notes on a sermon, and more! The opportunities are endless! Through it all, we learn about the GREATER PRIZE that awaits us (Phil. 3:14)!

FRIDAY NIGHT OUT - Every Week, 7-10pm
Children of all ages through fifth grade enjoy play time while parents take a break and catch a movie, dinner or just some quiet time. Children are encouraged to bring their own games or G-rated movies. The cost for this service is $10/child or $20/family and reservations are REQUIRED by noon, Thursday. To make a reservation, call Lily at ext. 121.

We hope you will join us and maybe you, too, will say afresh “Eureka!” at what God has in store for you!
